Apple Mulled Wine Cocktail topcook.tomathouse.com
Ingredients:
- 1 liter of apple cider (unfiltered apple juice without sugar)
- 3 cinnamon sticks
- 1 piece fresh ginger root, crushed
- 3 cloves
- A pinch of nutmeg
- 1 firm red apple (Fuji, Gala, etc.), cut into small cubes
- 1 firm green apple (such as Granny Smith), diced into small cubes
- Juice of 2 lemons
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1 bottle (750 ml) of dry sparkling wine Cava
Preparation:
- Combine the apple juice, cinnamon sticks, ginger, cloves, and nutmeg in a saucepan and heat over medium heat. Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat to low and simmer until the liquid has reduced by half, about 30 minutes. Set aside to cool, then strain.
- In a large bowl, combine the apples, lemon juice, and sugar. Place in a saucepan with the apple juice and refrigerate. When ready to serve, fill champagne flutes about halfway with the apple juice mixture and top with sparkling wine. Stir and serve.
