topcook.tomathouse.com

Ingredients:

  • 0.5 cup fresh basil leaves, torn
  • 0.5 cup + 2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
  • 3/4 teaspoon coarse salt
  • 1 can (800 g) of tomato puree
  • 450 g raw hot Italian sausage, casings removed
  • 1 bunch broccoli, cut into bite-sized florets (about 3 cups)
  • 3 tbsp. flour
  • 450 g pizza dough
  • 340 g fresh mozzarella, sliced 0.5 cm thick.
  • 1 cup Parmesan

Preparation:

  1. In a medium bowl, combine the basil, 1/2 cup olive oil, salt, and tomato puree. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 3 hours to allow the flavors to meld.
  2. Preheat oven to 260°C. Position the oven rack on the highest shelf, leaving the bottom of the oven clear.
  3. Heat a large skillet over high heat. Add the remaining 2 tablespoons olive oil and the sausage and cook until golden brown, breaking up any clumps with a wooden spoon to create bite-sized pieces, about 10 minutes. Add the broccoli to the skillet and stir to distribute evenly. Remove from heat and cool to room temperature.
  4. Flour an inverted rimmed baking sheet. Gently stretch the pizza dough and place it on the prepared baking sheet. Continue stretching the dough to a thickness of 0.5 cm, leaving a slightly thicker edge. Spoon 1 cup of sauce over the dough, spread it out, and top with mozzarella. Evenly distribute the meat mixture and sprinkle with Parmesan.
  5. Place the baking sheet directly on the bottom of the oven and bake for 5 minutes. Then move the baking sheet to the top rack and bake until golden brown, 5 minutes more.
