Ingredients:

    Chili meat sauce

  • 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil
  • Half a yellow onion, chopped
  • 1 tbsp tomato paste
  • 2 tbsp. chili powder
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 2 tsp dark brown sugar
  • 2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 450 g of ground beef
  • 3/4 cup canned crushed tomatoes

    cole slaw

  • 3 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
  • 1.5 tsp. granulated sugar
  • 2 cups coleslaw mix

    Burgers

  • 450 g of ground beef
  • 1 tbsp. vegetable oil
  • 4 slices of cheddar
  • 1/4 cup mustard
  • 4 sesame buns
  • Half a white onion, chopped

Preparation:

  1. Prepare the chili:

Heat vegetable oil in a medium saucepan over medium-high heat. Add yellow onion and cook, stirring, until softened, about 5 minutes. Add tomato paste, chili powder, cumin, oregano, brown sugar, and Worcestershire sauce. Cook, stirring, until the onion is coated with the spices, about 2 minutes.
  2. Add the ground beef, 1/2 teaspoon salt, and some freshly ground black pepper to the pan and continue cooking, stirring, until no longer pink, 3-4 minutes. Add the tomatoes, 1/2 cup water, and a pinch of salt. Bring to a boil and simmer, stirring occasionally, until the chili thickens, 15-20 minutes. Season with salt to taste.
  3. Meanwhile, prepare the coleslaw.:

In a medium bowl, combine mayonnaise, vinegar, and granulated sugar. Add the coleslaw mixture and toss to combine; season with salt and pepper to taste.
  4. Make some hamburgers:

In a large bowl, combine the ground beef with 1/2 teaspoon of salt and black pepper. Form into four patties, each 4 inches wide (about 1/2 inch thick). Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the patties and cook until golden brown, 2-3 minutes per side for medium-rare, topping each patty with a slice of cheese for the last 2 minutes.
  5. Spread mustard on the bottom halves of the buns. Serve the patties on the buns, topped with chili, white onions, and coleslaw.
