topcook.tomathouse.com

Ingredients:

  • 1 loaf (30 cm long) Cuban bread
  • 4 slices of baked pork
  • 4 slices baked ham
  • 3-4 slices of Swiss cheese
  • 2 slices of pickled cucumbers, very thinly sliced lengthwise
  • 2 tbsp mayonnaise or to taste
  • Melted butter

Preparation:

  1. Set the plancha temperature to 180°C.

Cut the bread in half lengthwise, spread mayonnaise on the bottom, top with the roast pork, then the baked sweet ham, then the pickles, and then the cheese. When heated, the cheese will melt and meld with the ham.
  2. Then place the sandwich on the plancha and brush the surface of the bread with a little melted butter. Press the top of the plancha into place. After 3 minutes, lift the top of the plancha, flip the sandwich over, and repeat the buttering process.

The bread should be toasted and the cheese should melt. This should happen in about 10-15 minutes, depending on the plancha.
  3. Making a Good Ham It starts in the evening. Marinating adds extra flavor to the dish. We add plenty of crushed garlic, ground cumin, and dried oregano to the tart oranges and limes. Brush this mixture onto the fresh ham and rub it into the meat. Refrigerate it, covered with plastic wrap.
  4. The next day, preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C), place the pork skin-side up in a baking dish lined with salt (this will prevent the meat from drying out), and cook for about 4-5 hours, until the internal temperature reaches 180°F (82°C). Be sure to remove the salt, which will have hardened by this time. The skin should be crispy and golden brown.

Let the meat rest and cut it when you can't wait any longer!
