Kentucky 95 Cocktail

Ingredients:

    For the syrup:

  • 1 cup of sugar
  • 1 cup of water

    For one serving of cocktail:

  • 25 ml. bourbon
  • 25 ml freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • 15 ml freshly squeezed orange juice
  • 25 ml syrup
  • Champagne or any dry sparkling wine, chilled
  • Lemon zest, cut into thin strips, for garnish

Preparation:

  1. Prepare the syrup: Combine sugar and water in a saucepan. Place the saucepan on the stove and cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the sugar dissolves. Remove the saucepan from the stove and let the syrup cool completely.
  2. Prepare a cocktail: Place 6 ice cubes in a shaker, add bourbon, syrup, lemon juice, and orange juice. Shake for 10 seconds, then strain into a glass. Top with champagne. Garnish with lemon zest.
