Ingredients:
- 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil
- 1 cup chopped onion
- 2 cloves garlic, crushed
- 3 tbsp. ketchup
- 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
- 1/4 cup dark brown sugar
- 1/4 cup steak sauce
- 1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce
- 3 tbsp. molasses
- 3 tablespoons mustard
- 1/2 tsp ground celery seeds
- Coarse salt
- 1 - 2 tsp. liquid smoke (liquid smoke flavoring)
Preparation:
- Heat vegetable oil in a heavy-bottomed saucepan. Add the onion and garlic and cook for 6-7 minutes, until golden brown. Add the ketchup, 1 cup water, vinegar, brown sugar, both sauces, molasses, mustard, celery seed, and 1 teaspoon salt. Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat and simmer until the onion is soft, about 15 minutes. Stir in the liquid smoke and strain the sauce through a sieve.
